THE ARC AT GREEN SCHOOL BALI

Company’s Location: Huron, Indonesia
Company: IBUKU
Lead Architect: IBUKU
Client: Green School Bali
The Arc is the new fitness hall at Green School, located in the heart of Bali, where children learn surrounded by nature. It stands close to the famed Heart of School and now offers the largest space on campus.

The Arc at Green School is the first building of its kind ever made. The Arc is the series of bamboo arches 19 meters long, connected by anticlastic gridshells. This unprecedented use of bamboo required months of research and development and fine tuning of individual details. The result is a refined engineering feat with unparalleled beauty.

MUSÉE ATELIER AUDEMARS PIGUET

Category: Interior Design of the Year
Company’s Location: Stuttgart, Germany
Project Location: Le Brassus, Switzerland
Company: ATELIER BRÜCKNER GmbH
Client: Audemars Piguet

Heliciform hall of Musée Atelier, designed by BIG and implemented by CCHE Swiss Architectural Bureau, smoothly climbs up the walls made of textural bent glass. It is situated in the historical place where the company was founded: in the small village of Le Brassus.

Being a masterpiece of engineering and design, this is the first building of its kind built at such altitude. Curved glazing fully supports the steel roof, while brass net runs along the outer surface to regulate light and temperature. A green roof also helps regulate temperature by absorbing water.

Musée Atelier Audemars Piguet immerses visitors in the Swiss watch manufacturer’s past, present and future.

Such architectural combination expresses the union of traditions and forward-looking thought, being the basis of Audemars Piguet’s skills.

Well known watchmakers, who are making the compound Manufacture’s watches and clocks till present moment, were also included into museum’s area so that the visitors will be able to get familiarized with Audemars Piguet’s maestros. Grandes Complications and Métiers d’Art Ateliers are located in the heart of this spiral.

ELEFTHERIA SQUARE

Category: Urban Design of the Year
Company’s Location: London, United Kingdom
Company: Zaha Hadid Architects
Lead Architect: Zaha Hadid
Client: Nicosia Municipality

Eleftheria Square in the centre of Nicosia is located near the Venetian Walls and its area-way. These huge defensive walls were built in the Middle Ages and renovated by the Venetians in the 16th century. They determine the oldest capital square, dividing the historical city from new squares outside the walls.

ZHA visioned Eleftheria Square as the first part of a much larger urban planning vision, which may speed up the reunion of the capital. The design provides a smooth view at the Venetian Walls by determining these defensive walls as an important element of Nicosia identity.

The moat may become a kind of ‘green line’ that encircles the city by making earlier unavailable areas as city plazas, gardens and sideways with palms.
